Privacy & Confidentiality

Respecting client information is part of the work.

This website notice is a general summary for website visitors and inquiries. It does not replace BTCC’s client-specific privacy acknowledgments or authorization forms.

Website inquiries

The public Request Support form is intentionally limited to general contact information and a brief description of the type of help requested. Visitors are instructed not to send detailed medical records, diagnoses, member IDs, Social Security numbers, claims documents, or other sensitive personal or health information through the public form.

Information used in client services

Depending on the service requested, BTCC may receive contact information, health-insurance information, benefits or claims information, provider and appointment information, information related to long-term care, Medicaid, home health, rehabilitation, DME, therapy, community resources, or other information voluntarily provided by the client.

How information may be used

BTCC may use client information to provide the requested navigation services, communicate about updates and next steps, coordinate with healthcare organizations when appropriate authorization has been provided, and maintain business records needed to document the services provided.

Privacy and confidentiality

BTCC’s client materials state that reasonable steps will be taken to keep client information private and confidential and to limit access to people who need the information to provide or support the requested service. BTCC does not intentionally sell client health information.

HIPAA status

HIPAA applies directly to covered healthcare entities and certain business associates. BTCC’s legal status under HIPAA may depend on the particular service or contractual relationship involved. The website should not be interpreted as a representation that every BTCC activity is subject to HIPAA in the same way.

Communication

BTCC communicates with clients by email. Ordinary email may carry privacy risks. Visitors and clients should avoid sending sensitive health information through ordinary email unless an appropriate workflow has been established.

Authorizations

When a health plan, provider, hospital, pharmacy, laboratory, or other healthcare organization needs authorization before disclosing information to BTCC, a separate authorization process may be required. Some organizations may require their own forms or identity-verification process.

Review before publishing: This page is a website-content draft based on BTCC’s supplied materials. Privacy/compliance counsel should review it for BTCC’s actual operations, contracts, and applicable state and federal requirements.
